Edvard Munch, born in 1863 and died in 1944, was a master of conveying emotions through his paintings. His artworks are often deeply symbolic and speak to the soul in ways that leave us in awe.
Two friends then walked along the coast, where the blue-black fjord met the hustle and bustle of the city. They set out on a journey where they were to experience blood and flames, which Munch so sublimely expressed in his works. As they wandered, they were surrounded by the great endless cries that seemed to penetrate nature itself.
The friends continued on their way while I stood back, trembling with anxiety and fascination. The fjord and the city lay before my feet like a canvas painted in colors that had never been seen before. It was the first time I really understood how the city could lie bathed in blood, as Munch had described it.
The friends then left and the sun threw an endless scream over the horizon that was almost too much to bear. It was as if the path they were following led them deeper into the great infinity where even the fence seemed tired to death.
Suddenly the sky changed, and it suddenly became blood red, as if Edvard Munch's brush strokes had become reality. It was a moment that stood in stark contrast to the blue-black fjord and the city.
In Oslo, home of the Munch Museum, one can still be left trembling with the intense feeling his artwork evokes. It's as if his brushstrokes have captured the soul and heart of each image, leaving us with an endless wonder about the human experience.
